KITCHENER - Being ahead of the pack is nothing special for Savannah Laroche.

Having set a number of records at the club level, the Grade 9 Assumption College student is relishing the challenge of high school track and field. Now, she's paving a path that she hopes leads to the Ontario Federation of Schools Athletic Association championships.

And she's halfway there after a gold-medal performance in midget shot put Wednesday at the Central Western Ontario Secondary Schools Association track and field championships.
